Where To Go In Spring In Japan

My friend asked me, “what will you miss most about Japan?” And I answered truthfully, “the flowers”

1. Kawazu for their plum blossoms festival. It’s starting to bloom now until early March. I was supposed to go this weekend but the weather forecast says that it will be raining which left me with no choice but to visit at around first week of March.

2. Go to Western Japan for the first bloom of Cherry Blossom! What a perfect timing that I’ll be touring around Osaka, Kyoto and Kobe this coming spring break just in time for the opening of these pink buds. View blooming forecast here.

3. Strawberry picking. Cherry blossoms and strawberries what a combination for this blushing season. Hope I’m able to do it. If all else fails, strawberries sold in your usual Japanese supermarket is most delicious by this time.

4. Wear yukata (basically the Japanese traditional clothes similar to kimono but made out of lighter material for the warmer season) and stroll around Kyoto in it. See our yukata photo shoot in Kyoto a few years back here.
5. Visit Disneyland and Disney Sea! I bet there are lots of new attractions and gimmicks for spring. My friends and I are actually planning to go this 1st of March! Exciting!

6. Awaji is known to be the “flower island” of Japan. Just look at this photo and it will lure you to visit! I’m dying to go, let’s fast forward to spring please!
