I’m so excited to present with you my newest project with Mica. It’s about kawaii cafes in Manila. I’ve been doing this bit by bit last year but I felt like doing a project with a team is better than doing it alone so I’m really happy that Mica shares the same passion with me.
My first project was actually called “Japan in Manila” and I featured Hole In The Wall, Vanilla Cupcake Bakery, Bunny Baker, etc. It was really fun but since I don’t have anyone to take photos with, my motivation died down. Tip! If you want to be successful, surround yourself with people who are just like you.
Anyway, going back to Cat Cafe Manila.. It wasn’t my first attempt here. I tried it a couple of times with my friends when we were waiting our spot for The Nook Cafe (a Harry Potter inspired cafe nearby) before but since we don’t have reservations, we weren’t able to get in. This time I was with Mica, really early in the morning, waiting for Caffera (a camera-themed) Cafe to open. They were supposed to open at 10:00am, we were waiting from 8:30am to 10:15am and no signs of any staff coming in so we decided to leave. We first dined at The Breakfast Table (which serves really good breakfast meals) and then decided to give Cat Cafe Manila a try.
Entrance fee was Php200 (Php100 is consumable for food/ drinks) for two hours. We got lavender Italian soda and cookies. They’re all yum! The cafe’s interior was super photogenic and their location has a perfect lighting – good for people who love taking photos. The area space is too small and they usually allow up to 15 people per hour. It was packed that day since we visited on a weekend but I bet it’s fine on a normal day. The cats are nice, thy don’t do anything to the food placed casually on the table though I wish it was similar to Japanese cat cafes wherein dining area is separated from play area. Since this cafe has a good lighting, you can see cat furs floating around and (probably) falling in your food or drink. The verdict? 6/10. I will still go back maybe on a weekday but there’s no rush. I would love to explore other cat cafes nearby.
