Instagrammable Cafes in Ho Chi Minh

My staple travel must-visit are cafes. I sometimes skip all the historical sites (like what we did in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) but I’ll never skip on visiting cute / instagrammable cafes. Of course, we have to eat! It’s always a bonus to find cafes with pretty interiors but good coffee is a must!

The Loft

An aesthetic cafe located at the second floor of an old historical building in District 1. I have to say that their iced mocha tasted similar to Toby’s Estate’s which I like definitely. It has a modern hipster vibe and a popular hangout spot for both locals and tourists. We tried their unique ice cream flavours such as duriccino (durian and cappuccino). For someone who doesn’t really like durian, I must say.. it’s good. I’ll surely come back at this cafe next time I visit HCM.

1st Garden Cafe / Restaurant

On the same building as The Loft, we found this quirky “forest” inspired cafe. Their back ground music are chirping birds, very relaxing. We ordered Vietnam coffee and Baileys coffee (not sure what it is called) which are both good.

What I like about Ho Chi Minh city: they have plenty of greens! You can definitely have your drink on take away and just enjoy it on a park bench.

A 9-story building filled with cafes at 42 Nguyen Hue

For me, this is Maginhawa (a popular hangout spot targeted for the younger generation in Manila) in building form. The cafes here are affordable, instagrammable but food and drinks are not that good. Boo Coffee

We decided to go all the way up to 9th floor of 42 Nguyen Hue and just try the first cafe we find. It was Tet holiday when we visited so most of the establishments are closed.

I got the usual iced peach tea which you can find everywhere on the streets of Ho Chi Minh (nice try, right? It was so refreshing though. They also serve milk tea which I tried but didn’t like.

Melee Coffee

We didn’t actually try this cafe (still at 42 Nguyen Hue) but I’ve searched that they actually serve chicken with different sauces. The place looked so interesting so maybe I’ll give it a go on my next visit?

Vietnam is just like Manila in most angles.

L’Usine Le Loi

It’s actually one of the most top rated cafes in tripadvisor and it was promoted at Cebu Pacific’s SMILE magazine on the month we visited Ho Chi Minh city so I thought that I ought to try it? And for me, it didn’t disappoint. Their Americano is on the nutty side (and not fruity) which is my type of coffee.

Their Vietnam coffee (for me) is just so-so after trying the best Vietnam coffee on the side street of Mui Ne. Sometimes, the best coffee could be found on most unexpected places and it’s also cheap. Hahaha!
