Kyoto With You

I can’t really remember the exact time I first visited Kyoto. It might be around 10 years ago? It never lose its magic to me.

The most special thing about Kyoto is how the Japanese people have retained their traditions and combined with technology.

Yaezakura are cherry blossoms with more than five petals. Got lucky to find some kanzan, type of yaezakura, near Kiyomizudera.

Yojiya is a famous specialist cosmetics company in Kyoto. The owners started selling cosmetic products in a cart in 1904 way before their brand name Yojiya was established. The term “Yojiya” was derived from “Yoji” the Japanese term for toothbrush (which were sold in their shop before) and “Ya” the Japanese term for shop. Another example is Pan-ya for bakery. “Pan” is the Japanese term for bread and “Ya” for shop. Thus, panya.
