Here are my favourite / recommended Korean dramas for starters:
My Love From Another Star
I was so inclined to this drama because I could relate with Cheong Song Yi so much and at the same time I can’t forget how Do Min Joon reminds me of The Little Prince.
Scarlet Heart: Ryeo
I was warned by my friend not to watch this because it’ll my break heart but I’m so happy I did watch it and got my heart broken. It’s a roller coaster kind of show, it makes you feel giddy and miserable in just one episode. It’s like going out with a guy, your parents and friends don’t approved of. It was one of the firsts dramas I’ve watched and I totally recommend it if you’re a fan of bittersweet love stories.
It was one of the realest dramas I’ve watched. Real doesn’t mean it’s all sad and unfortunate life (like how Cheese in the Trap made me feel somehow), it’s real in a positive way. It’ll make you laugh or cry. This is where I met Gong Hyo Jin and Jo Jung Sook, which are both amazing actors. Maybe that’s why the drama felt so real!
Cheese in the Trap
Even though the characters Hong Seol and Yoo Jung annoys me so much. This drama gave me so much emotions and helped me (a little) to become more understanding to people. We don’t have the same experiences, you can’t just judge people because they’re born with a golden spoon or they’re abandoned. Many people wouldn’t understand (Lee Sung Kyung) In Ha’s attitude in this show but I FEEL FOR HER.
This is where I met Suzy Bae and Woo Bin. Woohoo! It’s another real drama, no fantasy involved. It made me cry a river because some of the scenes hit home.
Love in the Moonlight
After watching Scarlet Heart: Ryeo, I didn’t want to watch another period drama but Love in the Moonlight got me hooked because of the visuals of the lead characters and funny plot (well, at first).
Obviously from the title, it’s a medical drama. Some people might not like this because there are lots of medical scenes and drama but this is one of dramas that I actually watched thoroughly without skipping. I love that they made the plot relatable to real life experiences because if it’s your usual drama, a girl abandoned would result to a vengeful adult. If I will describe this drama in my own terms, it is about a girl who lost everything and tried her best to regain life. It’s inspiring for me.
Tomorrow With You
It reminded me of Time Traveler’s Wife. I didn’t like the gloomy cinematography that reminded me of Cheese in the Trap but the story is too interesting to pass.
It’s Okay, That’s Love
Surprisingly, it’s a medical drama. The first medical drama that I’ve seen that’s about psychology. I fell in love with the characters. They are all flawed and beautiful in their own ways. One of my ultimate faves.
Oh My Ghost
Jo Jung Sook is one of my crushes! I just have to watch this. Some parts creeped me out especially with a ghost entering a human body and pretends to be her but over all, I liked this drama.
Strong Woman Do Bong Soon
One of the recent dramas that I’ve watched and liked. I usually try to watch the first episode of dramas and see if I would like it. Although I skipped a lot of parts in this drama (the supposed funny parts are not for me), I loved Bong Bong and Min Min together. I was rooting Guk Doo (because, Ji Soo) at first but his character is SO SLOW.. I admit Min Min (Park Hyung Sik) is too charming for my life.
Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo
I loved that this drama made all a lot of us a true blue kdrama fan. Lee Sung Kyung’s beauty made me wanting to collect all Laneige products and introduced me to k-beauty world. I just want her beauty (haha). This drama is light, funny, it gives you a fuzzy feeling.
One of the biggest dramas recently. The plot is really nice but I wish it ended earlier and didn’t give a cliche ending. When I saw the trailers, I was like.. I love Gong Yoo so I’ll definitely watch this. He didn’t disappoint. He never will. Hahaha!
After watching Train to Busan, I just have to watch Coffee Prince again. I can’t get enough of him. He’s TOO CUTE! This drama is also super cute and honest. SO KILIG!!!
I’m currently watching Hwarang. So far, so good! I haven’t watched enough to judge it completely but I’m liking it. There are dramas that I didn’t like even if they’re widely popular, it’s just not my taste probably. I won’t mention those anymore. I haven’t watched any drama again (except for Coffee Prince) but if I would, I’d repeat WFKBJ from episode 11-16. I would re-watch My Love From Another Star from the very start.
