Le Petit Soufflé and Yardstick’s New Cake and Coffee Pairings

I was invited to the launch of Le Petit Soufflé and Yardstick Coffee’s new cake and cffee pairings, of course I said yes! I’m a big fan of afternoon tea (or coffee whichever you prefer) and desserts! I love everything sweet but not too sweet (do you know what I mean?).  That afternoon everything tasted good!

French-Japanese bistro Le Petit Soufflé teamed up with Yardstick Coffee to introduce three new pairings composed of their respective expertise: pastry and coffee. The tie-up coincided with the launch of Workshop, the bespoke patisserie within Le Petit Soufflé Megamall. First up is the Basque Burnt Cheesecake. 🧀 Baked at a higher temperature to achieve its caramelised and nearly burnt top, it remains smooth and custardy inside.

I’m not a fan of cheesecakes, I’ve tried a lot even the best ones in Japan but it’s just not my type BUT when I tried Le Petit Souffle’s Basque Burnt Cheesecake.. I think I died and went to cheesecake heaven! I LOVE IT!

TIP: It’s best when served hot so best to call at least two hours before dining

The 17-layer Chocolate Cake, meanwhile, has alternating Valrhona Araguani 72% Ganache and moist sponge cake, all dressed in 70% Guanaja chocolate glaze and glacage.   🍫

As a huge chocolate lover, I LOVE THIS. Haha! Just pure indulgence. I can eat this every week if only gaining calories don’t matter to me. Sigh.

Subtlety and purity are the Pistachio Roulade’s charm. It’s made of 100% pureed pistachios cake and filling.

This is shocking but my cheesecake lover sister loved the Pistachio Roulade the most.. Me? I LOVED everything so much I just can’t pick one.

Yardstick’s crafted drinks bring elements to the table that elevated the character of each cake. “We really wanted the cakes to shine and the beverages to play the best supporting role,” says Yardstick co-founder Andre Chanco.

For the Basque Burnt Cheesecake, it’s the Torched Butterscotch Iced Latte’s mild sweetness that makes it even better. In case of the 17-layer Chocolate Cake, the Dairy-free Mocha is its continuation, in that it goes hand in hand with the cake’s richness.

The Pistachio Roulade is best paired with the Iced Madagascar Vanilla Latte, a laid-back combination, says Andre. “Something one can have over with friends, or while reading a good book,” he adds.

To try the pairings, visit Le Petit Soufflé in Mega Fashion Hall (2F) in SM Megamall, Ortigas, Mandaluyong City or in Century City Mall (3F) in Malayan Ave., Poblacion, Makati City.
